Are You Ready for VDay! February 7th, 2009
V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is also a day on or around Valentines Day in February for which annual theatrical and artistic events are produced around the world to raise money and transform consciousness. The money that passes through V-Day and that is raised on its behalf comes from individuals, corporations, foundations, product and book sales and benefit and commercial performances of “The Vagina Monologues" and is directly donated to grassroots, national and international organizations and programs. V-Day came to life in 1998 as an outgrowth of Eve Ensler’s Obie Award winning play “The Vagina Monologues”.
Anyone who has seen “The Vagina Monologues” knows the play has the power to galvanize and inspire a powerful sense of self and activism. As Eve performed the piece in small towns and large cities all around the world (and eventually with celebrity friends) she saw and heard first hand the destructive personal, social, political and economic consequences violence against women has for many nations. In its first year of incorporation (2001), V-Day was named one of Worth Magazine's "100 Best Charities." In ten years, the V-Day movement has raised over 60 million.

Beauty Before & After...

Nevertheless, because of some recent request of before and afters, I wanted to share one I did for the BET Honors a few weeks ago.
I can't say how much I enjoyed doing her face, because as a makeup artist we love the perfect symmetry of a face. Especially for contouring, and highlighting.
For her face I used alot of some of my newest addictions I have shared with you before... like My MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powders.. I used 4 different kinds on her to highlight in the areas I wanted to stand out, and the darker powders for the contouring, and a color close to her complexion, buffed in to perfection to give her a healthy glow.

For her eyes, I kept it neutral, and added 2 sets of Ardell Lashes. I used a pair of full lashes that was close to the length of her natural lashes, and then I used a pair of flaired side lashes to elongate her eyes...
To highlight her eyes and brow bone, I used YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Highlighter, my new fav.
Even though it took me like an hour to do her face, it was so well worth it!

Tory Burch's new Logo Sandals..

I know we have barely made it out of winter months, but I am so looking forward to the warmer weather. Where we can wear our feet out, instead of being clogged up in boots. There has been enough cold already!
So, I am more than glad to see Tory Burch's new Logo Sandals approaching us for Spring. How cute are they.
I think I want them in every color.. But I just may settle for one pair. However, I will be very happy.. ;D
Check them out at Bergdorf Goodman!

Dc Wedding Makeup Artist | Weddings are in the Air! Makeup Essentials..

Speaking of essentials, there are a few products I shared with you before, that I love for Weddings, and I did want to highlight a few more...

One of my favorites for Brides is the Bobbi Brown Gel Liners. They are absolutely wonderful. They are ultra smooth to apply, and has great staying power. Yes, it is enough for the nonstop crying Bride! I have had one... lol

Do you have favorites you like to use on Brides? What are you favorites?... I have more coming!..
Next would be my Ardell Lashes.. Love them! I sometimes double up to give extra glam.. but they never let me down.

For Cheeks I love Nars Blushes. They are very pigmented, but can be sheered out nicely. Some of my favorite colors are Taj Mahal, and Nars Orgasm.

Next would be my Makeup Forever Aqua Lip Liners! I use these as the liner, and blend all the way into the lip. I then would put a light lipgloss or color, just for shine. This has staying power like no other liners!

I used Nars Orgasm on this Bride... the perfect peach pink, to tone down the pink in her cheeks but still give her naturally flushed glow..
What are you some of your favorite products for Brides? Are there some you can't live without? Share your comments.
